Since 2022, we’ve served as the editorial director for one of the most highly- anticipated benchmarks and sources for thought leadership around racial equality in America, the National Urban League’s State of Black America® report.

Each edition contains penetrating commentary and insightful analysis from recognized authorities and leading figures in politics, the corporate and tech sectors, the nonprofit arena, academia, and popular culture.

In the 2024 report, we reflected on the Civil Rights Act of 1964, how it changed America, and what’s at stake now that it is under attack.

As editorial director, I:

  • Authored the report’s executive summary

  • Curated the list of contributors, which included the U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, Senator Cory Booker, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and others.

  • Led the development of a special section on Climate Change, A Climate in Crisis, through a partnership with the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)

  • Drafted speeches for the launch event at Morehouse College on April 18th, 2023
